As a Sales Application Engineer you are the interface to our international customers from science and industry. You handle the entire sales process from customer acquisition to deal closing. In the process, you discuss applications with our customers, elaborate the needs and solutions. In the scope of customer demonstrations, test measurements and commissioning, you work with our device with numerous sample systems and remain actively in contact with scientific questions.

Sales Application Engineer

Your Responsibilities and Duties

  • Be the primary contact for our worldwide customers from science and industry
  • Manage, interpret and implement technical and scientific customer requirements with regard to near-field optics
  • Actively identify, develop and maintain our key account customers
  • Establish and maintain a strong customer relationship through your technical and scientific know-how
  • Negotiate and execute sales contracts in your geographic focus region
  • Identify new market opportunities and generate new leads for our product portfolio at international conferences and trade fairs
  • Team-up to create and present application studies
  • Implementation and evaluation of customer test measurements
  • Build-up and set-up our products to conduct the site acceptance test together with our customers
  • Be the primary support contact for our customers and handle 1st level support requests

Skills and Qualifications

  • Degree (Bachelor, Master or PhD) in natural sciences (physics, chemistry, materials science or similar) with practical experience in the scientific field
  • Sound knowledge in theory and application of optical spectroscopy methods such as Raman, infrared spectroscopy or near-field microscopy
  • Experience in scanning probe microscopy (e.g. AFM)
  • Ideally, you have pratical experience in sales & negotiation of scientific instruments
  • Ideally, you bring an interesting network of scientific & industry research contacts
  • Open and competent presence in front of international and highly skilled customers
  • Hands-on mentality, as well as highly motivated, independent and goal-oriented work methods with high team ability
  • Practical experience in the integration, adjustment and commissioning of optical assemblies is a plus
  • Willingness to travel internationally (30-40%)
  • Very good communication skills in German and English
