The BI magician

After finishing high school, Christoph joined his older brother in the Saarland for a year before deciding to start a training course in retail. Even then, his sunny disposition was known to inspire many customers. To further pursue his interest in the world of business and consolidate his knowledge, he followed up his retail training with a university degree. His experience as a working student in Controlling gave him a taste for financial reporting and business intelligence—which led him first to BI consulting and then to the in-house BI team at attocube. At attocube, he has inspired his colleagues by magically designing the ERP system and its interfaces to better serve them.

Christoph’s unwavering optimism seems to work magic, too. No matter how complex or impossible the issue, he remains solidly optimistic. And in the same way that he juggles databases, he shows great talent and enthusiasm whenever there’s a social gathering or game night to be had. Whatever the game or activity, Christoph is always in the mood. He seeks out impressive landscapes when he goes on vacation—from the heights of a waterslide park to the beauty of Tuscan villages. But he also enjoys quiet moments—like sitting on his balcony reading a book (which can be anything from non-fiction to Harry Potter to Game of Thrones). Versatile is yet another fitting way to describe Christoph.

When it comes to attocube, Christoph is a fan of the authentic atmosphere within the team and the positive error culture. It's not for nothing, for example, that he can look back and laugh at his fire-fighting walk of shame through the company after he reset the ERP database for a few hours . It’s somehow fitting considering that he’s always wanted to swap lives with the lead singer of a hit band so he could experience what it feels like to sing on stage and go crazy with the crowd...! And when he’s the one listening, it’s to reggae, hip-hop or chill-electro tunes.

Christoph’s perfect day

Spending the day surrounded by friends is what makes it absolutely perfect for Christoph. His perfect day starts with a delicious breakfast, includes lots of board games and ends with a nice, relaxed barbecue where he is the grill master.

The 5-star organizer

When it came time to choose a career, Patrizia considered becoming an archeologist. She was fascinated by the adventurous side of unearthing history around the world. But then she found out that, unlike Indiana Jones, real-life archeologists typically spend their days removing dust, only to be rewarded with the excavation of a single clay shard—and she changed her mind. 

Adventure, she eventually decided, could also be sought in the hotel industry, where her talents could be put to good use and further developed, all in an interesting, multifaceted environment. So she trained to be a hotel manager.

When Patrizia sought a change of scene in 2016, she applied for the Sales Assistant position at attocube—and attocube considers itself extremely lucky that she did. She quickly proved such an asset that she was promoted to Inside Sales Coordinator for the academic sales team. While her team of nanotechnology experts is busy developing and serving attocube’s international client base in the academic world, Patrizia keeps the organizational side of things running smoothly. She has the reins of the Academic Sales back office firmly in hand, managing it with clarity, reliability and a lighthearted spirit.

In her fun-living, outgoing way, Patricia certainly is somewhat of an exotic bird among her team of (mainly) physicists. Lovingly nicknamed “Patzy” by her colleagues, she’s come to appreciate them—people who always have a ready ear, keep their cool even under stress and find the right balance between being her superior, her colleague and her friend.

Patrizia appreciates this unique attocube spirit not only at work, but also at events like the atto15YEARS celebration that entailed a snowshoeing excursion and a fun evening get-together. At attocube, everyone meets each other with an open mind and, despite the company’s massive growth, Patrizia is confident that this spirit of mutual support and sticking up for each other will remain unchanged. An added plus for her ability to get along with so many people so easily is that she’s fluent in German, English and even the local Bavarian dialect. 

When Patrizia takes a break from work, she doesn’t feel drawn to the mountains, where she’d have think about the weather and the right apparel. Instead, her motto is this: no shoes, no shirt, no problem. Which is why she always heads to the beaches of the American East Coast for her annual vacation and spends as much of her spare time as possible putting her green thumb to work in her backyard. Her playlist includes everything from heavy metal to country to beach music—so she always has just the right music on hand for sports, vacation, gardening or the inevitable Friday night pint of Bavarian beer. Her musical taste is clearly just as flexible and diverse as her career choices. 

Patrizia’s perfect day

“First of all: sleeping in! Then doing sports, going to the pool, having a bit of a spa treatment and getting my hair to look like a magazine ad (this would never work on a regular day!). After that, indulging in a leisurely brunch and going on a shopping spree with my mom. In the evening, getting together with my best friend for some wine and a pizza baked on our pizza stone, or watching a few episodes of Steel Buddies with my husband.”

The enthusiastic scientist

As a child, Daniel had an incredible fascination with the night sky. Not because he wanted to become an astronaut, but because he found that observing the moon and the stars immediately put Earth-bound issues into perspective.

This fascination with the cosmos is characteristic of Daniel even today: Still someone who looks at the big picture and doesn’t get lost in insignificant details, he’s also a free thinker who invests his ambition and expertise in driving science and technology forward.

Daniel’s history with attocube goes back a long way. He first came on board to program test software for our positioners in the context of a student internship. While studying for his master’s degree, he returned as a working student. A great deal had changed at attocube when Daniel became a fixed asset in 2016 as a software and electronics developer. This came after his stints at CERN in Geneva and Stanford University in California. And as much as he loved the opportunity to learn and immerse himself in these extraordinary worlds of scientific excellence, he was just as happy being able to put one of his new developments into operation for the first time at attocube. Today, as Head of R&D Software and Electronics, Daniel gets to share his enthusiasm and expertise with his team.

Daniel loves pouring his scientific and software development expertise into his work at attocube—and to see that this very spirit pervades the entire attocube team. It helps to explain his confidence in the company’s future as an innovator for future-forward issues.

For all his love of research and development, Daniel also has a considerable sociable side: When he was young, he played in various bands and enjoyed firing up the crowd. Playing the electric guitar also kick-started his desire to become an electronic engineer and to this day is an important part of his life. Daniel also enjoys spending his spare time doing sports, especially playing soccer, beach volleyball and table tennis.
This seemingly unbribable developer does have one weak spot, though: scrumptious food. And all the better if it’s eaten in great company.

If he could, would he improve anything in his life today? Right now, he says, nothing at all. Things are going swimmingly.

“It’s actually pretty simple: Give me a fun, laid-back night with family and friends. A bit of time together on a mild summer day, relaxing by a lake or the sea or in the ‘little piece of paradise’, which is my girlfriend’s backyard. A bit of time for myself and some sports. Perfect!”
